Average Deviation of Planned Duration of Tasks
Average deviation of planned duration of tasks is a key performance indicator that
shows average duration variance in days expressed as the difference between the planned
duration of tasks and the baseline duration of tasks.
Deviation
of planned duration (Duration Variance) can be calculated by the following
formula:
Deviation of Planned
Duration (Duration Variance) = Duration - Baseline Duration
Duration is the actual
scheduled time spent on tasks.
Baseline Duration is
originally estimated time spent on tasks.
This KPI
helps to compare the variation of time spent on tasks over some time span.
If you need
to calculate average deviation of planned duration of tasks, please do the
following:
1. Create the custom field "Duration Variance":

2. If you
need to view the average deviation of planned duration per particular project
on Task List, filter your to-do list by task group with project tasks.
3. to display the average deviation of planned
duration on Task List set footer:
- - right
click under column "Duration Variance"
- - select
"Average"
To view
average deviation of planned duration of tasks on Task Tree follow the steps
below:
- On Task Tree select root task
group and select "Custom fields options"
- To enable the displaying of average
deviation of planned duration of tasks select custom field "Duration
Variance" and do the following:
- select Enable
- check
"Aggregated (for task group)
- select "Average"
and the custom field name "Duration Variance"
- Select task group for which you
need to view average deviation of planned duration, right click and select
"Custom fields options"
- Select custom field "Duration
Variance" and select the option "Enable by parent".
