Number (Percentage) of Do It Now Tasks (DIN) and Their Total and Average Duration

Do It Now or DIN is a task that is not scheduled in advance. It can be any urgent task that must be done as soon as possible by allocated resource. Along with other KPIs for tracking progress of scheduled vs. unscheduled tasks the given measure also lets you estimate whether you have control over unscheduled tasks.
To define number (percentage) of DIN tasks please follow the steps below:

• Add custom status for Do it Now tasks. You can create two statuses for tasks of this sort: DIN - Uncompleted and DIN - Completed

• If you need to view number (percentage) of DIN tasks per particular project or resource, filter tasks by task group

• If you need to view number (percentage) of DIN tasks per particular resource and/or over some time span please set the appropriate filters on Task List - Filters panel

To view the number of DIN tasks please do the following:

• to group tasks by Status drag and drop column header “Status” to the top of your task list

• Right click under Status: DIN-Completed or DIN - Uncompleted and select “Count”

To view the percentage of DIN tasks (Completed and Uncompleted) go to Charts panel and select “Pie diagram”

To view the percentage of DIN - Completed tasks against DIN - Uncompleted tasks filter tasks by these statuses

• Charts panel will show the proportion of DIN-Completed to DIN-Uncompleted expressed as percentage

To compute total and average duration of DIN tasks follow the instructions below:

• Add custom field to calculate duration of DIN tasks using the formula

Duration = Finish time - Start time

• To view total duration of DIN tasks right click under column “Duration” and select “Sum”

• To view average duration of DIN tasks select “Average”
