How to use layouts to switch between custom fields for different types of tasks?
You can use the solution described below if your use of custom fields varies depending on the types of tasks. Suppose you have task group “Project 1” with tasks related to material or goods and you need to enable custom fields like "Dollars Spent" for tasks in this task group “Project 1”. For tasks related to resource performance (Project 2) you need to view custom field "Time Spent". To switch between custom fields for different types of tasks you can use column layouts:
Please do the following:
- To select required custom field column right click on column name, select “Task Tree Columns” and check the required custom field.
For example, if you would like to view resource performance that includes “Time Spent”, “Cost per hour”, “Total Cost” custom fields, etc. you need to check these custom fields
If you would like to view custom fields for tasks connected with materials: “Dollars Spent”, “Order ID”, etc., you need to check these custom fields.
- Create custom layouts, for example, “Resource Performance” or “Time Spent” for Project 1 and “Dollars Spent” for Project 2
Selecting required column layout you will be able to switch between custom fields for different types of tasks
